Matthew had been looking for a new machine that would be unique to the area for the past couple of years. a Superbowl in France came up for sale which interested Matthew Dowse.
After arranging to buy the machine the Superbowl arrived in their yard in March where it was built up and work started immediately to get it ready for travelling in the UK.
The Superbowl was built by SDC in 1991 and is the first such SDC version to open in the UK. A design review and testing needed to be passed before it was allowed to open here.
While many will be familiar with the ARM UK Touchdown, the SDC Superbowl is a bigger machine overall needing a 58 foot position. Like the ARM versions there are 10 cars seating 4 riders each giving the ride a capacity of up-to 40 riders.
Matthew Dowse’s Superbowl looks imposing with its big backflash and certainly caught the eyes of spectators when the Superbowl platform has lifted to full height.
Matthew Dowse’s Superbowl was proving popular with local riders in Scunthorpe. After Scunthorpe Matthew Dowse plans to take Superbowl to Doncaster Racecourse for the Whit bank holiday before heading north to The Hoppings in Newcastle one of the biggest fairs in the country in June.
In time Matthew Dowse plans to improve the ride with a new folding backflash and getting the ride racked on to two trailers to make it easier to travel.
Matthew Dowse hopes to travel the Superbowl far and wide in the future but for now the Superbowls planned places are at Doncaster Racecouse for 23rd May to Sunday 1st June and The Hoppings in Newcastle Friday 20th June to Sunday 29th June.
