In Tallahassee, the Seminoles opened the 2026 season with a 34-17 home victory over the New Mexico State Aggies. Florida State was tested for most of the game but was able to lean on their run game in the second half to put the game away. Florida State ran for 217 total yards. Running back Ousmane Kromah ran for 115 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Ashton Daniels went 17-27 for 202 yards and a touchdown through the air, while adding 30 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground in his FSU debut.
