Rose and I are in the process of moving to a new home. We started looking last summer, but were never able to find exactly what we wanted. We had specific criteria, one of which was that the house faced in a westerly direction so we could have a shaded back yard and deck. We wanted four bedrooms so I could use one as an office and have two extras for when the great-grandkids visited us. Rosie wanted a bar in the kitchen for additional eating space. We did NOT want a walk-out basement. And a 3-car garage was a requirement to store all of our lawn equipment. And we had a specific area in mind.
Not an easy task to find all of those options in one package at the right place and in the right location. In fact, we became so frustrated and discouraged that we finally gave up last November and took our home off the market over the winter months.
Now that spring has sprung, we've restarted our search and, so far, we have been unable to locate the perfect house. So, we talked to a builder and made a serious decision. We're going to build one exactly like we want in the area we want to be in.
This is the first video in this series. We are starting at the beginning and planning to take you with us for every stop along the way as things progress. According to the builder, it's going to be a 5 or 6 month process. But we're making progress on figuring it out. The only issue at this point (so far) is finding out from the builder whether this lot will allow for a covered deck on the back or if we have to settle for a patio. We are hoping for the former.
