Geo Beck | NEW FISSURES IN ICELAND - Geology Update and NEW 3D MAPS of the eruption site @Geobeck | Uploaded April 2021 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
The volcanic eruption in Iceland (Fagradalsfjall/Geldingadalir) has now been erupting for a month, and there are now a total of 8 FISSURES (not 8 volcanoes, still the same volcanic system). I made a video on 3/19 answering common questions about the Iceland eruption and since then there has been quite a lot of changes. In this video I go over where the new fissures are, when they 'popped up', where the lava is now flowing, how thick the lava is now, how much lava has flowed out of the volcano so far, and I also show you some awesome 3D maps that help those of us who can't be at the eruption in person to get a feel for what it looks like there, and how the lava field has evolved over the last 30 days or so since lava began spewing out of the first fissure on March 19th.
