The 2026 Leapmotor Lafa 5 Ultra is a high-performance all-electric hot hatch developed on the brand's advanced LEAP 3.5 platform. Designed to blend everyday practicality with sporty driving dynamics, the Ultra model features a rear-mounted electric motor producing 241 horsepower (180 kW) and 255 Nm of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels, while its balanced 50:50 weight distribution enhances agility and stability. The hatchback sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph), making it one of the more engaging electric hatchbacks in its class.
Energy comes from a 67.1-kWh battery pack that provides a driving range of up to 605 km under the CLTC testing cycle, which translates to approximately 482 km (300 miles) on the WLTP standard. The battery supports DC fast charging at rates of up to 174 kW, allowing for quick charging stops during long-distance travel. Measuring 4,490 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,510 mm tall, with a 2,735 mm wheelbase, the Lafa 5 Ultra offers a spacious cabin while maintaining a compact footprint. The vehicle has a curb weight of 1,665 kg, contributing to its responsive handling and overall driving performance.
The Ultra trim stands out with a more aggressive exterior that includes aerodynamic side skirts, a prominent rear spoiler, a sporty rear diffuser, and upgraded suspension tuning for sharper road manners. Inside, the cabin adopts a premium performance theme with extensive faux suede and Alcantara-style trim across the A-pillars and door panels. Exclusive Ultra sport seats feature pronounced side bolsters for added support during spirited driving, along with an 8-point massage function for greater comfort. Technology is equally impressive, with a Qualcomm Power 95 processor powering the infotainment system and a dedicated 8650 ADAS chip enabling the latest Leapmotor Pilot driver-assistance features for enhanced safety and convenience.
