Newly released video from the Spokane Police Department shows officers trying to help stop the fast moving flames as the wildfire spread in northern Spokane on Aug. 1, 2026. The video also shows officers going door-to-door to help people evacuate.
All evacuation levels for the Old Trails Road and Autumn Lane fires were lifted last week as progress and recovery continued on the Spokane Complex fires.
The Old Trails, Fairview and Autumn Lane fires have burned nearly 10,000 acres and destroyed 921 homes and structures since Aug. 1.
Aaron Farinacci, 37, was arrested earlier this month after witnesses reported seeing him acting suspiciously near the area where the Old Trails Fire started in Spokane County. He is now now being held on a $2 million bond.
Gov. Bob Ferguson intends to seek a Major Disaster Declaration to unlock federal financial assistance for Washingtonians impacted by the wildfires in eastern Washington.
