Stories bring history to life and thanks to many volunteers, collectors, and historians, the AWA Museum is filled with stories. In the case of the Hallicrafters DD-1 and this presentation, my story begins with the engineers and how their efforts led to the technology that is preserved today and shared at AWA. The stories of the collectors and how they obtained and preserved the artifacts also becomes an integral part of the story. In this case, I have captured and relate firsthand how N2GHD found 2 DD-1’s, and brought the best example to AWA. KA2GXL’s August 2024 find, a Hallicrafters SCR-299 diorama, led to another story. I added K4NR’s 2024Hamfest find and his gift of Sterling’s key, as proof that there are still treasures to be found and stories to be shared.
