The new 2027 Volkswagen Amarok is taking shape, and these renderings give us an early look at what Volkswagen's next pickup for Latin America could look like. More importantly, this Amarok will be very different from the current Ford Ranger based global model.
Volkswagen has already teased the upcoming truck, revealing a distinctive front design with slim lighting elements, a wide light signature and a completely different face. Using those early clues, the rendered design provides a closer look at how the production pickup could come together.
Underneath, the new Amarok is expected to share its foundation with the Maxus Terron 9 from SAIC. That connection could bring some interesting powertrain choices, including a 2.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine producing around 224 horsepower and paired with an 8 speed ZF automatic transmission.
A plug in hybrid Amarok could be even more impressive. Reports suggest the electrified powertrain may deliver more than 470 horsepower and 800 Newton meters of torque, potentially giving Volkswagen one of its most powerful Amarok models yet.
The new Volkswagen Amarok is scheduled to arrive in Latin America in 2027, with production planned for Volkswagen's General Pacheco facility in Argentina.
