Here's what we're reacting to TONIGHT:
Chapter 37: Cassian and Azriel have hauled the two Autumn soldiers to a room inside the Court of Nightmares that even Keir himself refuses to enter. There is a hatch in the floor at the center, and Cassian and Azriel make very clear what that hatch is for. Whatever information they need about Briallyn and her plans, they intend to have it. This is not the side of the Night Court's warriors we usually get to see. It is considerably more unsettling.
Chapter 38: By the time training starts, Emerie has absolutely figured it out. She does not need an announcement. Meanwhile, Gwyn brings something up from the archives: Mind-Stilling, a meditative technique the ancient Valkyries used to sharpen focus and steady the mind. Then Nesta tells Cassian she is ready to move on to weapons. He hands her a wooden sword. She picks it up and something shifts. She does not want to put it down. Emily will have a lot to say about this one.
Chapter 39: Nesta makes it down 6,000 steps before turning back, which is real progress. Training has grown large enough that Cassian brings Azriel in to help. Gwyn cannot stop watching him. It turns out Azriel was the one who found her the day of Sangravah, and this is the first time they have been in the same space since. Later, Nesta and Gwyn take the Mind-Stilling work down to the library. For what may be the first time in her life, Nesta feels genuinely at peace inside her own head.
Chapter 40: Cassian takes Nesta to a blacksmith in Velaris so she can watch a sword being made from nothing. She asks to try. He lets her work through a dagger, a full sword, and a greatsword. Back at training, she goes after the sparring bag and punches straight through it. Lucien is there to witness the whole thing. The wood has not simply broken. It was burned hollow from within, and when Cassian touches what is left, it comes apart like ash. Her power is doing something. Nobody fully understands what yet.
