MECHANICAL ENGINEER youtu.be/H21gjH8_C-E Tim Parz Rockets burn fuel and the exhaust is pressurized. When the exhaust is released its coming out at a high rate slamming into the atmosphere. It can't move the atmosphere out of the way because there is too much of it so it moves the rocket instead. In the vacuum of space the exhaust is free to escape so there is no force applied to the rocket and the rocket will not propel. Its the same thing as a balloon rocket. The air coming out of it is pushing against the air outside of it creating a force. If you put it on wheels the balloon rocket will roll/propel across the floor or table. If you catch the air coming out of the balloon with a vacuum hose the car will not propel. NASA claims it should propel because it doesn't need to push off of anything. They say its the " unbalanced force inside the balloon that makes it move but the experiment proves them wrong. Rocket DO NOT work in space.

bob question from YouTube: "Newton was not thinking about rockets in space when he came up with the third law. 14.7 psi doesn't sound much, but when you realise that it equates to one metric tonne per square foot, or 2116 pounds per square foot, you suddenly realise that we are actually under an immense pressure. If an elephant stood on you, you would be under less pressure. The elephant messes you up because the pressure is uneven. This air pressure is plenty to cause resistance to the expanding gasses of a rocket. We don't feel the pressure because we are pressurised and all is under equilibrium."

Franky Uk 22 hours ago Clemens Richter: Like all NASA disciples who unquestioningly follow their dogma, you are quite obviously under the illusion that a bullet fired from a gun emphatically proves that a rocket can work in space. You seem to think that the forcible ejection of the bullet from the barrel causes the gun to recoil and that a rockets thrust is akin to several billion bullets being fired and therefore the rocket is being constantly ‘recoiled’, which proves that a rocket would work in space.

To be fair, when a gun is fired in normal motion, the recoil does appear instantaneous. In super slow motion, however, you can see this is not the case. As the bullet leaves the barrel, the gun does not recoil immediately but remains stationary in the shooters hand. The bullet is, in fact, some distance away from the gun before it recoils as this video demonstrates: youtu.be/w4iraJVSdTA

The recoil is actually caused by the ejecta, the hot gas molecules that initially force the bullet out of the gun. As the gas molecules follow the bullet out of the barrel, they act exactly like the thrust of a rocket and bombard the resistant force of ambient air pressure. This causes the gas molecules to be pushed by the air pressure and thus the gas molecules are returned to the gun causing it to recoil in the shooters hand.

Bottom line. If you could fire a gun in space where there is no resistant force, the bullet would exit the barrel and move endlessly through space. The hot gas molecules would also exit the barrel and with no resistant force to stop them, would follow the bullet, forever moving away from the gun thus making it physically impossible for the force of the gases ever to return to the gun as they do in Earth’s atmosphere. The gun would therefore not recoil and would not move.

Just like a rocket...

{note by rocketspushoffair: there is negative pressure in the barrel when the hot gases escape, recoil is the atmosperic gases rushing in to equalize the pressure and forcefully smacking the back of the barrel as they do so}

A REPLY I GAVE: No, I'm proving that all the thrust is in the exhaust, I am proving rockets need a dense atmosphere, just like the nasa guy proved in the video when he stated that many people in the past believed that rockets need a solid body of air to push off of...THINK MAN!!! why the fck would he even have to say such a thing???? Because the New York Times still had not reversed its opinion, which of course is the truth about how rockets really work, unless you think the reporter just decided to offer his opinion? No! He consulted with experts who actually are involved with building rockets!!! That was a world class respected newspaper back in the day when it called out goddard in 1921 for suggesting such bullshit, where was his nobel prize??
