Join me on an unforgettable trek through the ancient jungles of Sarawak.
In this video, we’re hiking deep into Bako National Park in Borneo to find some of the most bizarre and beautiful flora on the planet. From the legendary tropical pitcher plants (Nepenthes) to the fascinating caudiciform ant-plants, the biodiversity in this Kerangas heath forest is absolutely breath-taking.
Bako is Malaysia’s oldest national park, and its unique sandstone plateau creates the perfect environment for carnivorous plants to thrive. We’ll get up close with four species of Nepenthes and explore how five ant-plant species (including Myrmecodia and Hydnophytum) provide a living home for colonies of ants in exchange for protection and nutrients.
