Nepal and China resumed rescue operations that had been suspended briefly in the flood-hit Himalayas on Friday after risks from an overflowing lake were found to be manageable. The lake formed high up in the Himalayan mountains after a glacier collapse that triggered the initial Wednesday floods. Nepali authorities updated the death toll to 616 on Saturday, with more than 2,400 people missing. Chinese state media said that at least seven people died and 554 others were missing.
