I'm switching from vim to NeoVim for CoPilot, but I want to keep my .vimrc replacement they call init.vim compatible with vim, so it can be my .vimrc again with just a rename.
I am learning about NeoVim. It is interesting, but already on their split from vim over how the :execute !command stuff works... well, ouch. Just ouch. I guess NeoVim had their reasons, but go and break my macros, will you!
Technically, they weren't really broken. I just couldn't see their output, and it's a nuanced topic I had to explore here. Once I found an acceptable behavior that will work nearly the same way in vim and neovim. I took it.
Upshot of it all is that the macro to generate my blog only puts the command into the vim command line. You still have to hit Enter on the keyboard to actually run the command. So it gives you a chance to change your mind. Feature!
But just by doing that,, you can see the output of the previously invisible console output, and when it's done it sits there and waits for you to hit Enter, like it used to. And I am happy again. NeoVim didn't quite screw me.
