SuperJet Spade | NeoStar Raceway (SNK Neo Geo Original Song) @SuperJet_Spade | Uploaded May 2021 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
As most of you know, I was given the new version of DefleMask by the creator Delek at no cost for an intro tune I sent him a while ago, and I created this song as a result of running a poll on this channel the other day. Some Neo Geo game soundtracks played samples with various notes on the non-variable pitch ADPCM channels, which I believe was accomplished either by sampling multiple copies of the same instrument at different notes or by using longer samples that contain multiple instruments playing a sequence of notes (the Neo Geo cartridges do have a ton of space to accomplish this compared to the Mega Drive and Super Famicom cartridges of the early 90s). For this song, I went with the former technique, as DefleMask v1.x.x currently lacks the ADPCM channel with variable pitch (at the time I uploaded this video). It was fun to try out this new system in DefleMask, though. I might wait now for when DefleMask gets its various bug fixes and support for the YM2610's ADPCM channel with variable pitch.

(Side note: The audio in the links above were recorded directly from DefleMask v1.0.5, while the audio in this video was rendered with in_vgm in XMPlay. I believe the tempo is slightly off in DefleMask as there is small gap between when the drumloop ends and starts playing again, whereas the in_vgm render had no issue with this at all. I didn't notice this until after I uploaded the song to my SoundCloud and Audius).
