Neko Case, from Alexandria, Virginia, singer-songwriter and member of the Canadian indie rock band The New Pornographers, has released her new and eighth solo studio album Neon Grey Midnight Green, seven years after the previous Hell-On. Self-produced and recorded live in her Vermont studio, it is enriched by the Plainsong Chambers Orchestra of Portland, with the assistance of Tucker Martine. Once again Neko rejects compromise and easy melodic responses, to favor an elegant and mature style, full of harmonic details, alternating dark and melancholic tones with flashes of hope.
