Neil DeGrasse Tyson was one of my heroes growing up, and it can't be understated how much of a positive force his image was for more than a generation of black scientists, but his legacy is tainted by harmful actions, in this video I try to explore both what that means in terms of his contributions, and what his fallen status represents for the community and for popular science as a whole. I will no doubt fail to do the entirety of it justice, but this video has been nagging at me for a while to be made, so obviously go talk to black scientists for the perspective I couldn't possibly begin to describe.
