So I decided I would do an experiment and disable hyperthreading to see what effect it would have on performance, then re-enable it afterwards. Simple, right? Well NO! After re-enabling the hyperthreading, the hyperthreading is STILL off! Even though the bios shows hyperthreading is enabled, even though I've done a power cycle, even though in msconfig's boot advanced options I have made sure that the "number of cpus" is un-checked. Also, is my RAM now in the right sockets? The sockets are not labeld as "1 2 3 & 4", it's "A1 A2 B1 & B2" instead. Also why does the task manager automatically load when windows boots? That never used to happen but now for no apparent reason it now does that. I am so confused, nothing is ever explained properly and I have googled these to death and still can't find ANYTHING helpful. I'm an alogue guy, digital things are like black magic to me!
