In front of their home crowd, the Virginia Cavaliers got off to a quick start and held off the NC State Wolfpack for a 34-8 win in the 2026 season opener. Beau Pribula had a phenomenal game, running the ball effectively throughout the game and finished with 110 yards on the ground on 15 carries. The QB only attempted 11 passes but completed 9 of them for 155 yards with two scores in the win. Jekail Middlebrook ran the ball 15 times for 64 yards while Xavier Brown had 8 rushes for 40 yards with a score on the ground and one through the air for the Cavaliers. The UVA defense was stout and opportunistic as they stifled CJ Bailey and the NC State offense. Brandyn Hillman recorded an interception and a forced fumble that helped set the tone in the first half. Bailey finished the game 12-23 for 84 yards with an interception and a fumble in the loss.
