Olajuwon was selected first in the 84 draft by the Houston Rockets. Hakeem teamed with Ralph Sampson to form their own "Twin Towers" front court. Together they made it to the NBA finals in 1986, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1. Unfortunately, they lost to the Boston Celtics in 6.
However, Hakeem wasn't done yet. With Sampson retiring due to injuries, Hakeem became the leader of the team and lead them to the NBA finals in 94 and 95. Hakeem defeated his collegiate rival Patrick Ewing and his Knicks in 7 games, with Hakeem making the game saving block on John Starks in game 6. The 95 Rockets struggled in the regular season prompting a trade for Hakeem's old college teammate Clyde Drexler. Still, the Rockets limped into the playoffs as the #6 seed but defeated the Suns, Jazz, Spurs, and Magic, 4 50+ win teams, capturing back to back titles.
