I finally got to nature journal Coho Salmon spawning after years of waiting! The El Niño winter has provided the necessary rainfall and the conditions were lined up right. I also got a few tips and was available during the right time of year. Thanks to Jennie the naturalist!
Not the easiest thing to nature journal and you can't see the fish like you can at an aquarium but that's not the point. The point is that this is an endangered fish and fascinating event to witness. It is also an ecologically significant event because salmon are often keystone species in an ecosystem. Their role can be disproportionately critical to the health of the rest of the system.
