When you look at the data, the highest rates of childhood diabetes and obesity are in low income communities of color that don't have nearby nature. In the same communities, we have a lack of clean air, lack of clean water. So these frontline communities are the ones who deserve the best access [to nature and public lands] for their mental and physical health.
The Outdoors for All work is more important than ever — this work to to expand universal access to nature for children and youth, as well as to empower veterans to continue their service in protecting the land they defend.
