In this talk, given on November 14, 2021 at CFIC's fall conference, Josh Redstone provided a scientific explanation of uncanny events and the reasons they elicit responses they often prompt from us. Professor Redstone teaches in the Philosophy Department at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He holds degrees in Philosophy (BA, MA) and Cognitive Science (PhD). His research concerns philosophical and empirical questions that arise at the intersection of philosophy of mind, cognitive science, robotics, and AI.
