In right wing circles nationalism is often held up as the model which dissidents should hitch their wagon to and ride to victory in the future. Yet is nationalism itself at odds with a more reactionary, aristocratic social order & a product of the revolutionary, democratic era? To examine this question I'll be joined by Apostolic Majesty to look at the Austrian & later Austro-Hungarian Empire as a case study: its history, its structure, the status of various nations within it, & the post-revolutionary ideas of liberalism & nationalism that undermined the empire.
