For today's movie car: You think you hate it now, just wait until you drive it! Yes, this metallic pea-painted, faux-wood paneled, eight-headlighted monster of a station wagon is none other than the Griswold’s Queen Family Truckster from the movie National Lampoon's Vacation. It was designed by the famous car designer, George Barris, who designed dozens and dozens of very famous Hollywood cars. He started with a 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon and heavily modified it to become as unattractive as possible. Barris took the job a little too well. Following the release of the vacation movie, station wagon sales plummeted and were shortly replaced by popularity with minivans and SUV's. There were no survivors of the five trucksters built for reasons like this scene in the movie where Clark Griswold jumps it and completely demolishes it. We have one of the most accurate replicas in the world including the gas cap on the hood, Dinky the dog's leash tied to the bumper, plus all of the rooftop luggage and sweet Aunt Edna’s body on the roof. We recently talked our way into having our wagon appear in a commercial with Chevy Chase. Not only did it make the commercial, but Chevy Chase signed the hood and actually went for a ride in it with the CEO of Raising Canes.
