Mysterious Booms solved. First, they are not booms. Second they are not just ground shaking. Sonic booms would not scare residents into calling the authoritarians, or fear a tsunami. Ground shaking by itself would not indicate a possible tornado, nor flashing lights in the sky. To understand, balance a pencil on your index finger, and push it up until it sticks in the ceiling.
