Co-hosted by NASA Centennial Challenges, Methuselah Foundation, and The Ohio State University, the Deep Space Food Symposium celebrated the Deep Space Food Challenge, a multi-year international effort to develop sustainable food systems for long duration habitation in space, on the Moon, and on Mars.

On Aug. 16, NASA awarded a total of $1.25 million to three U.S. teams in the third and final round of the challenge.

The winners’ announcement event was preceded by a two-day symposium, which took place at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The symposium included a packed agenda outfitted with VIP tours of Ohio State facilities, a closed-door knowledge sharing session between finalist teams and stakeholders/investors, an interactive VIP dinner at nearby restaurant FYR, and 11 panels/presentations from stakeholders within government, industry, and academia, as well as our finalist teams.
