After eight months aboard the International Space Station, astronaut Jonny Kim is getting ready to return home.
Watch as he gives his farewell remarks and climbs into the Soyuz spacecraft to head back to Earth. Hatch closure is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. EST (2215 UTC) on Dec. 8, and spacecraft undocking is scheduled for 8:41 p.m. EST (0141 UTC Dec. 9).
Kim arrived at the orbiting station in April 2025 as part of Expedition 73, conducting research and activities to prepare humanity for future space missions while benefiting people back on Earth. This research has included studying bioprinted tissues in microgravity and developing robotic assistance for space exploration.
