Rimea | Nabbit's Secret Island - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Custom Track @Rimea | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 28 minutes ago.
After messing around with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe custom track creation since even before the release of Track Studio, I've finally decided to make a proper fully custom track.

This track is basically the first thing I've modelled as a whole, so I'm happy that it turned out pretty decent. In hindsight I would have preferred making a normal 3 lap track as opposed to this smaller 7 lap setup, but when I first started modelling the track I figured making it smaller would be easier, even though that's hardly the case when it comes to modelling.
Of course I couldn't help but base my first proper custom track off of New Super Mario Bros. U since I modded that game for years and years, I felt like a simple Acorn Plains track would be a bit too obvious though so instead I based this track off of the 'secret island' which contains Nabbit's house which you unlock after defeating Bowser. If you'll notice, I even included Acorn Plains in the distance which is also placed appropriately relative to the island.
Having played through it dozens of times throughout development, I am aware that the track is far from perfect. Gameplay-wise the track is basically exclusively U-turns, with the jump in the middle being a bit awkward in 200cc and the first turn definitely being too close to the start line. Visually there are also plenty of things which aren't quite as appealing as how Nintendo would have done it, though at least I managed to include shadow and light maps.
All in all I'm amazed with how well the track turned out, so I hope you might also enjoy playing it.
