Ian was able to some time over at the Teradek Booth with Greg Smokler to learn all about the new generation of wireless systems as well as a new wireless focus control ecosystem. Teradek focused heavily this year on usability, range, and Bluetooth capabilities.
The Teradek RT is a new software and hardware ecosystem for wireless lens control. This system includes the Control 3, Motor X, and MDR X.
The Control 3 is the new three axis hand unit featuring bluetooth radio and 2.4ghz radio. In addition, you can do lens mapping with RT, creating lens maps that translate to a pre marked ring. This product is very integratable with Teradek receivers and Small HD monitors, so you can make a very sleek all-in-one hand unit. By plugging the hand unit into the back of all SmallHD monitors, the monitor has an overlay of all lens information including iris, focal length, and focus with zero delay. The single axis lens controller also has lens mapping capabilities.
