Mainly, having my own servers and infrastructure gives me a greater level of access to the leaderboard's back end than Steam leaderboards do, which allows me to have much better integrated, less hack-y security measures and potentially additional features.

He's still quite the difficulty spike compared to the rest of the bosses (and the second phase definitely still has clarity issues especially with the hologram attacks), but he's also a lot more fun to fight, which is why I was happy to beat him without spirit summons this time. These changes definitely bump up SOTE into contention for my favorite FromSoft DLC alongside Old Iron King and Ringed City.

Everhood - A Quick Recommendation Eli B 2021-06-25 | Not really "quick" but I did feel the need to talk a little more in depth on this game in-particular.There are some spoilers down here...I couldn't fit this in anywhere in the video so I'll just put it here. The only place where Everhood's gameplay fails is during the Dev Gnomes fight, since the speed at which the notes travels speeds up so much that it is practically impossible to react to them, which is sad because the gameplay was at its best when it was reaction based. Also the ending given by that fight is definitely a contributor to how frustrating the game's story is for me.

So it's an unfortunate error that I mistakenly refer to Mettaton as "it" rather than "he" the one and only time throughout the video I refer to him via pronoun. Now, you'll just have to trust me that this was not an error made out of malice towards trans people, it is simply a script error that I didn't catch before publishing, since I only mention him in this way once in the entire hour and a half long video. The Unsolved Mysteries of FEZ Eli B 2020-12-06 | Edit (4-15-22): For FEZ's 10th anniversary on the 13th, Phil Fish gave an interview to Eurogamer. This was an unusual event considering Phil's departure from the games industry in the mid 2010s, and he decided to give an interesting answer when talking about the Monolith. Speaking on the community brute force, he said:"The way they got around to solving it was way more interesting and satisfying than what we had originally intended for it."There's already been some discussion about what exactly this could mean. Maybe Polytron intended for there to be an ARG started some time after the game's release, but decided against it since the solution had already gotten out. But this quote does seem to imply an "intended solution," and whether or not we'll ever see what that solution was, or if it's still hidden somewhere, is something we may never know. Regardless, I don't think my arguments in this video are invalidated by this revelation, as I don't factor author intention into my analysis at all. But, under my interpretation of the game, combined with this new quote from Phil, this makes FEZ an accident. And in some ways, that's just as beautiful as a thoroughly planned experience.
