The Devereux Center for Resilient Children developed a research-based checklist called the Devereux CAREgiving Checklist for Families. The tool is used to help parents and families better reflect upon and identify the strengths and needs of their caregiving practices (i.e., parenting practices). The checklist addresses three areas of caregiving practices: Consistency, Attuned Relationships, and a healthy, safe, and loving Environment. Watch to learn more!

Now more than ever, we are seeing young children display behaviors that are challenging to the adults caring for them. Those adults are being asked to work through those behaviors, while also supporting young children’s social and emotional development. On top of that, those same adults are getting self-care practices and mental health conversations thrown at them.
While there is no magic spell that can erase all of that, there is something that can help. The Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) Program covers all of those bases. Better yet, you can use the DECA Program with our web-based system, called the e-DECA.
In this demo, you will: (1) Hear a brief introduction to the DECA Program, (2) See the capabilities of the e-DECA, (3) Leave with a possible solution for promoting social and emotional development and fostering resilience in young children, as well as within yourself

Social and emotional learning (SEL) in early childhood is and has been happening for quite a long time. Perhaps we just didn't have our "social and emotional lenses" on in the past...but we do now!
This video was created, in part, for the first National SEL Week and the fourth annual International SEL Day, 2023.

The past few years have not been easy – for any of us. There have been too many moments of great pain and suffering. Please know that we stand with you, united in the sadness, anger, frustration, grief, and even numbness. Your feelings are valid and we agree that there is much work to do.
We also share your overwhelm about where to begin, and we invite you to start by centering resilience with us, and to spread the word with those in your circles.
How? We offer you this statement and invitation. Take this and use it as you see fit. We would love for this to be shared with as many people as possible!

Our next installment of Let's Dig Deep focuses on this term, in honor of the Week of the Young Child (April 2-8, 2022), because every child deserves a developmentally appropriate home, classroom, and community.
