This wreck resulted in the retirement of all six locomotives involved, as well as many of the ore cars on both trains. The ill-fated southbound U78982 train was followed between Ramshaw and Rollins, as it advanced towards Highland for a meet with northbound train U78983 out of Two Harbors. We left the U78982 train at Rollins and never made an attempt to see the U78983 train, as we decided to continue back towards the Iron Range to document trains on the Missabe Subdivision. After we complete our coverage of the former DMIR, we'll glimpse a little BNSF action on the Lakes Subdivision, with the Grand Rapids turn job seen hiballing through Floodwood. Next, we’ll head to Hibbing to see BNSF’s Kelly Lake Local passing several pairs of Griswold crossing signals on a snowy afternoon. As an added bonus, we'll include a few scenes of DM&IR ore trains from October of 2004. Both trains included in this segment are powered by maroon and gold tunnel motors.

Vision Productions takes you back to the 1980s and 1990s to view trains on four Midwest regional and shortline railroads from the camera of videographer Bob Rivard. Starting on the Chicago Central & Pacific, you’ll see the railroad’s ragtag fleet of first and second-generation EMD “geeps”, many of which being “Paducahbilt” GP8 and GP10 locomotives of ICG heritage. Other locomotives seen include CC&P’s red GP38s, along with former Milwaukee Road GP20 rebuilds. We’ll cover the CC&P over the rolling landscape of the Corn Belt between Galena, Illinois and Hinton, Iowa. Next, we head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to cover the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway. Affectionately known as the “Crandic”, this railroad operated a small group of GP9s and EMD switchers before their locomotive fleet was upgraded. These units came to the DM&E very early in the railroad’s existence, with many still wearing colors of the Chicago & North Western, Milwaukee Road, and Norfolk & Western. Finally, we head to Wisconsin to see the Alco-powered Green Bay & Western Railroad. Yard switching, road trains, and even a cab ride aboard GBW C424 321, are featured in this segment. As a special treat, we view the operations of the SS City of Midland 41 railroad car ferry, including a journey aboard the vessel across Lake Michigan between Kewaunee, Wisconsin and Ludington, Michigan.

In this presentation, videographer Bob Rivard takes us on a journey across D&RGW's system, between the years 1985 and 1987. We’ll cover Denver to Glenwood Springs, the western portion of Tennessee Pass, and Soldier Summit in Utah.
The Rio Grande’s iconic “tunnel motors” are seen and heard doing battle with steep grades, winding through tight canyons, and running across wide open valleys. A great supporting cast of DRGW GP40s, GP40-2s, and SD50s are also seen in action, giving the viewer a good overview of Rio Grande motive power in the 1980s. Bob also captures the Utah Railway lugging heavy coal trains over Soldier Summit, with classic F45 and SD45 locomotives in charge. Highlights include the Moffat Tunnel, Tennessee Pass Tunnel, Belden, Minturn, Glenwood Canyon, Helper, Soldier Summit, and Gilluly. This video was updated and re-edited in June of 2023 at the studios of C. Vision Productions.

We’ll see ground shots, pace scenes, and even in-cab footage aboard Milwaukee Road “Little Joes” in this full-length presentation. Diesels are seen in this program as well, with EMD models SD45, SD40-2, and GP40 making multiple appearances. Mixed consists of diesels and electrics were common, with the units teaming up to battle the mountain grades of Montana.
Come along with photographer Ted Pope, as he brings the Milwaukee Road’s “Lines West” back to life, while we tour some of the most scenic territory on the railroad. Vision Productions brings you the final chapter of the Chicago and North Western's operations of its Western Division before the railroad became part of the vast Union Pacific system in 1995. We’ll begin the show by presenting footage of the "Cowboy Line" between Norfolk and Chadron, Nebraska, including more coverage of the final train before operations on this section ceased in December of 1992. In addition, we’ll see trains on the North Western‘s “Colony Line” between Colony, Wyoming and Dakota Junction in Nebraska. C. Vision's cameras captured Chicago and North Western operations on this line in the final years of the railroad’s existence, including one of the last C&NW trains before the Union Pacific takeover. Soon after the sale of the Colony Line to the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern in 1996, C. Vision returned to document DM&E operations in the Black Hills. We were fortunate to capture the Mount Rushmore locomotive, DME 6359, as it led a southbound train from Belle Fourche to Rapid City. For EMD fans, you’ll see models SD40-2, SD40-3, GP50, GP40, GP35, GP9, and GP7 doing what they do best, as the locomotives power heavy trains across Nebraska and South Dakota. We’ll also see GECX 3004, a rare GE Super 7 locomotive, while it was working out of Rapid City paired up with a CNW GP40.
This video relives the history of the C&NW, right up until its final hours as an independent company. The 1990s brought a renaissance in the railroad industry, as well as the end of an era in American railroading.

Vision Productions takes you back to the early days of BNSF to view railroad action on the Wayzata Subdivision between Minneapolis and Willmar, Minnesota. BNSF didn’t hold back while our cameras were trackside, as locomotive consists were extremely wild and colorful. There were no limits as to what could be seen, with everything from SD9s to SD70MACs leading trains during our visits. As an added bonus, we’ll take a brief cab ride aboard BNSF 2936, as it leads a Northtown to Willmar train on a May evening in 2003. We’ve also included footage of Cargill’s SD7 number 6008, with an elevator crew working to load a cut of grain hoppers in Litchfield. Vision's cameras take you to the far west end of the DM&E system. Beginning in Pierre, we immediately cross the Missouri River to cover the remaining miles of DM&E's mainline to Rapid City, over the infamous PRC Subdivision. Trains are seen traveling through the isolated, scenic area along the Bad River between Fort Pierre and Midland, climbing the steep grade of Wall Hill, and traveling through the beautiful Cheyenne River Valley, near Wasta. Next, we will take a brief look at a portion of the old "Cowboy Line", between Chadron and Crawford, Nebraska, now being operated by the Nebraska Northwestern Railroad. Last, but certainly not least, we will explore the Black Hills Subdivision from Dakota Junction, Nebraska to Colony, Wyoming. While in South Dakota, this route follows the eastern edge of the Black Hills from one end to the other, making it one of the most scenic stretches of railroad in the state. Bentonite is this railroad's lifeblood, and we see many trains of the heavy clay operating across the hilly terrain of western South Dakota. You won’t be disappointed in the variety of motive power assigned to these trains, as locomotive models GP7, GP9, SD7, SD9, SD10, GP38-3, GP40, GP50, SD40 (SD40-3), SD40-2, and SD60 are all seen in service. With coverage beginning in 1991, and extending into the Canadian Pacific era, this program brings you the complete DM&E story, showcasing the many changes that have occurred since the railroad came into existence in 1986. As an added bonus, a brief look at C&NW operations in the Black Hills is also included.

Vision Productions takes you on a tour of the Minnesota Commercial Railway. Operating over 150 route miles, the Minnesota Commercial serves customers on an extensive network of rail lines in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
The railroad operates on lines formerly owned by the Minnesota Transfer Railway Company, in addition to trackage leased from BNSF and Canadian Pacific. Prior to the PTC mandate, the railroad utilized trackage rights over Union Pacific rails to reach Bayport, Minnesota. C. Vision’s cameras follow five local switch jobs, along with some yard switching and transfer runs at the MNNR’s Midway Yard. First we’ll follow the Hugo Job, operating on former Minnesota Transfer and Northern Pacific trackage. Next, we’ll catch the Belt Job as it performs its duties with the railroad’s only B36-7 in charge. You’ll see the Hiawatha Job operating on former Milwaukee Road rails, with a cab ride on B23-7 1982 also included. The Hiawatha Milling District was documented on this run, with footage from in the cab, as well as trackside. After that, we’ll head east to capture the Bayport Job operating over trackage rights on the Union Pacific’s Altoona Subdivision and Stillwater Industrial Lead. Minnesota Commercial’s CF7 484 is right at home on this job, as it carries the name “City of Bayport”. Finally, we check out some switching operations in and around Midway Yard.
The Minnesota Commercial is truly unique as it operates with second generation Dash 7 General Electric locomotives, including models C30-7, B23-7, B30-7, and B36-7. A former Santa Fe SF30C is also seen in service. If you are an Alco fan, this railroad has a treat for you! You will see one of the last two Alco RS27 locomotives in existence, MNNR 316, as the unit smokes it up on the Hennepin Job. We were also fortunate to capture MNNR 313, an Alco C424, teamed up with a slug working the Commercial’s afternoon top end job in Midway Yard. Other interesting locomotives that appear in this video include a former Canadian National M420, and a former Santa Fe CF7.

This show chronicles EMD's finest, as they power across the railroad with heavy trains of grain, ethanol, and bentonite. Locomotives from DM&E, IC&E, CP, SOO, STLH, CITX, and CEFX are all seen in operation, with models SD40, SD40-2, SD60, GP40, and GP38 handling the majority of assignments. We were fortunate to capture two plow trains during the winter of 2009-2010, as DM&E’s Jordan Spreaders were busy clearing the mainline of deep snow following multiple winter storms. Footage for this show was captured between 2005 and 2012, with re-editing completed in February of 2023.

Vision Productions takes you back to 1991 to experience classic railroad action on the Wisconsin Central from the camera of Dan Hadley. We'll see trains on WC's Chicago, Superior, Minneapolis, Bradley, Pembine, and Soo Subs. In addition to train operations, we'll get an inside look at the railroad's Customer Service Center and dispatching office in Stevens Point. After that, we fast forward to 2002 to view a few trains shortly after the CN takeover of Wisconsin Central. We'll begin our coverage of the WC on the Chicago Sub south of Fond du Lac. This section of track is home to the well-known Byron Hill. Next, we take a journey along the original Soo Line main to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Vision Productions takes you on a tour of Canadian Pacific's River Subdivision along the beautiful Mississippi River, between the years 1998 and 2002. The River Sub is a portion of the former Milwaukee Road mainline between Chicago and the Twin Cities. At the time of production, this route hosted a variety of trains from CP (Soo Line), I&M Rail Link, Union Pacific, and Amtrak. In addition, Burlington Northern and BNSF run-through power is viewed on coal trains bound for the Columbia Energy Center near Portage, Wisconsin. Many older EMD and GE locomotives are seen in operation, including models SD40, SD40-2, C30-7, GP40, GP38-2, SD60, SD60M, SD70MAC, and SD90MAC. The I&M Rail Link operated with a fleet of real classics, with models SD35, SD40, SD45, and SD9 all appearing in this show. CP’s AC4400CW fleet was still new during this time period, with these powerful pullers becoming quite plentiful by the early 2000s. We'll see a great variety of trains throughout the video, with coal, grain, intermodal, and general freight trains keeping the rails polished during our visits. Vision Productions takes you to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts to view train operations on the Arizona & California Railroad. We document the railroad's mainline from one end to the other, with coverage over 30 years between 1992 and 2022. We'll see ARZC trains powered by classic EMD locomotives grinding up mountain grades, racing through the desert, and performing a little switching along the way. Rebuilt SD45s and SD45-2s wearing the attractive Arizona & California paint scheme were our primary focus in this production, with a supporting cast of GP38s, rebuilt GP20s, and RCPE SD40-2s also featured. Other visitors include CEFX SD40M-2s, MRL GP19-1 151, and a pair of BNSF road units. Genesee & Wyoming colors appear in this program as well, as many of the long-term ARZC locomotives received fresh coats of G&W orange in recent years. Arizona & California’s mainline travels through beautiful desert country for most of its length, with magnificent mountain landscapes visible along much of the route. The railroad encounters a true mountain pass between Harcuvar and Vicksburg, Arizona, known as Granite Wash Pass. This steep 1.6% grade is where battles are fought and won by ARZC crews, and is where our coverage of the railroad begins. From Granite Wash Pass, we’ll head east to the BNSF interchange at Castle Hot Springs, located on BNSF’s Phoenix Subdivision. Commonly referred to as the “Peavine”, this route accommodates the interchange of trains between BNSF and ARZC. After our coverage of the Peavine concludes, our focus shifts back to Arizona & California’s mainline. On our westward journey, we’ll visit the railroad’s home base of Parker, Arizona, before crossing the Colorado River into California. From there, we’ll head into the Mojave Desert on our journey to Cadiz. We’ll pass through several ghost towns as we explore the desolate west end of the railroad, all with fascinating histories. Once we arrive in Cadiz, the Arizona & California is seen interchanging freight with the Santa Fe. During the interchange process, a high-stepping eastbound hotshot passes by on the mainline powered by a quartet of ATSF EMDs. Mountains, wide open desert, unique small towns, and of course, classic locomotives operating on a unique shortline railroad. It’s all here for you to enjoy in this C. Vision video presentation.

We'll see trains in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois, as we explore the scenic winter wonderland between Winona, Minnesota and Clinton, Iowa. Classic EMD locomotives power most trains seen in this show, with Alco RS-11, C420, and C424 units making appearances on the Green Bay & Western. SD40 and SD40-2 workhorses dominate the rails of Burlington Northern, Soo Line, and Chicago & North Western, with a good variety of GP38s, GP39s, and SD60s also seen throughout the video. Canadian National haulage rights trains are spotted several times along Burlington Northern’s Aurora Subdivision, with CN and GTW locomotives handling these movements. Mr. Hadley visits Winona, Grand Crossing (La Crosse), Dubuque, East Cabin (East Dubuque), Savanna, and Clinton, as well as many other interesting locations on his quest to produce this program. We’ll see the Soo Line crossing the Mississippi River at La Crescent, Minnesota and Sabula, Iowa, with the CNW’s Mississippi River bridge in Clinton, Iowa also featured. These scenes were captured in January of 1993, with re-editing completed at the C. Vision Productions studios in December of 2022. Vision takes you to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northeast Wisconsin to view railroad operations of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming, Wisconsin Central (Canadian National), Escanaba & Lake Superior, and Michigan Limestone Operations. We cover the LS&I across their entire system, with GE U30C and C30-7 locomotives handling heavy trains of taconite pellets between the Empire and Tilden mines and the ore docks in Marquette, Michigan. The CN’s Wisconsin Central accesses the area on their network of former SOO, CNW, and DSS&A trackage. We’ll see WC taconite trains, locals, and switch jobs with an interesting mix of power in Wisconsin Central and Canadian National paint. Next, we’ll move over to the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad to document their mainline operations between Channing, Michigan and Crivitz, Wisconsin. At the time of production, the E&LS was leasing two classic locomotives from the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. LTV 4211 (EMD F9) and SOO 700 (GP30) put on a fantastic show for our cameras, as we follow them along the railroad’s former Milwaukee Road trackage. As a special treat, we’ll climb aboard LTV 4211 for a cab ride between Crivitz and Pembine. Before we leave the E&LS, we head over to Escanaba to see ELS 300, a rare Baldwin RS-12, as it completes switching chores around Escanaba and Wells. To close out our show, we visit Michigan Limestone Operations to view Chicago & Illinois Midland SD20s hauling shuttle trains of limestone between the Port Inland Quarry and the crusher on Lake Michigan. We were not disappointed, as railroad operations were in high gear while we toured the property.

This trackage was part of the Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension, and is currently the last significant mainline segment of this route still in operation. Our show begins in Aberdeen, where we’ll begin the westward trek across the Mobridge Subdivision and Hettinger Subdivision, through the states of South Dakota, North Dakota, and Montana. Along the way, we’ll see a great variety of BNSF trains, powered by locomotives both old and new. BNSF’s SD40-2 fleet could still be found on the high iron in the railroad’s early days, and we’ll see plenty of these units powering general merchandise trains across the territory. SD70MAC and SD70ACe locomotives handled most coal trains seen in this video, with BNSF’s GE fleet commonly found on the route’s shuttle grain trains. Locomotive models SD60, SD60M, B40-8, SD70M, GP60, GP38-2, GP39V, and SD45 also appear in this video, either leading trains, or trailing in the consist. Scenic highlights include the Missouri River crossing in Mobridge, the Little Missouri Badlands at Marmarth, and the Yellowstone River Valley between Bluffport and Miles City. This video captured a transitional era on BNSF, with older locomotives and infrastructure gradually being phased out in favor of modern alternatives. Come along with C. Vision Productions, as we explore this historic route during a colorful period in American railroading.

In addition to the Milwaukee mainline, we'll also cover the BNSF Core Lines between Sioux City, Iowa and Aberdeen, South Dakota, with brief coverage of the Mitchell Subdivision between Mitchell, South Dakota and Canton, South Dakota. This video was produced when most of the Milwaukee main was still laid with jointed rail, giving the viewer a nice sound show as trains pound along at track speed. Classic EMD power was found on most trains, with SD40-2s being the most common locomotive seen throughout the video. Oddball locomotives such as BNSF's only operating SDP40, a couple SD45-2s, and several SD9s all make appearances in this program. MRL SD45s and SD40-2XRs show up on several BNSF trains, adding to the variety. The Twin Cities & Western was also captured by our cameras, with classic Caterpillar and EMD “geeps” in charge.

Vision Productions explores the Western Division of the Chicago and North Western, during the railroad’s final years of existence. C&NW’s Cowboy Line and Colony Line are covered extensively in this program, with additional coverage of the railroad’s coal operations based in South Morrill, Nebraska. You will see historic footage of the Cowboy Line between Norfolk, Nebraska and Chadron, Nebraska, including the last train before the line’s abandonment. As a special treat, we were invited aboard CNW 6848 for the final journey across the Cowboy Line on December 1, 1992. Next, we head for the Chicago and North Western’s coal line to document CNW C40-8s and SD60s handling a steady flow of black diamonds out of the Powder River Basin. Coverage of CNW’s Powder River Sub, the CNW/BN Joint Line, and behind-the-scenes footage of the South Morrill operations center are featured in this portion of the video. We then return to the Cowboy Line to document operations between Chadron and Crawford, Nebraska. In Crawford, you’ll witness a live interchange between the Burlington Northern and C&NW, with both crews exchanging traffic and returning back to their home terminals. Last, we’ll cover the Colony Line between Dakota Junction, Nebraska and Belle Fourche, South Dakota. This line follows the eastern edge of the beautiful Black Hills, and is surely a C. Vision favorite. We’ll hop aboard CNW 5529 as our train heads north on the Rapid City Sub, towards the subdivision’s namesake. In addition to the cab ride, a great variety of trains are seen as we continue north along the Colony Line. We’ll see CNW GP40s, GP50s, SD40-2s, and even a stray SD50, powering trains over the many steep grades of the Rapid City Sub. Vision, we document the Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad (IC&E) between the years of 2002 and 2004. You'll see the birth of a regional railroad, as the carrier gains strength after taking over operations from the I&M Rail Link. The IC&E operated with a fascinating collection of first and second-generation EMD locomotives, with many GP9s, SD9s, SD40s, and SD45s included in the sale from IMRL. In addition to the former I&M Rail Link power, the railroad operated a large fleet of leased FURX SD40-2s, with the units still wearing Burlington Northern green and BNSF orange. Slowly, these units were replaced with overhauled SD40-2s of Union Pacific, Missouri Pacific, MKT, CNW, and BC Rail heritage.
We showcase IC&E's entire system across former Milwaukee Road and Rock Island trackage in the states of Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Missouri. You’ll see branch line locals, mainline freight trains, grain trains, as well as cameo appearances by Progressive Rail, Canadian Pacific’s Soo Line, Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern, and the Milwaukee Road 261. The "Kansas City line", "River line", and "Corn Lines" are all covered in depth, with extended coverage over CP's River Sub into the Twin Cities, and ICE/UP joint track into Kansas City. We visit Nahant Yard, Davenport, Sabula, Savanna, Dubuque, Marquette, Mason City, Austin, and Kansas City, with a great variety of intermediate locations covered in between.

Owned at the time by RailAmerica, this railroad was well known for its use of high hood EMD “geeps”. The two featured in our video are MNN 1483, which is an ex Nickel Plate GP9, and OTVR 192, which is a former Southern Railway GP18. Both are painted in the attractive silver, red, and blue RailAmerica paint scheme. C. Vision covers operations on the entire length of Otter Tail Valley’s mainline from Fergus Falls to Moorhead, Minnesota. We catch the train cruising the high iron, working local industries, and interchanging freight with the BNSF in Dilworth, Minnesota. Vision video presentation, we feature the Progressive Rail's Minnesota operations in 2005. This era of the PGR is remembered as one of its most interesting, with a variety of classic EMD locomotives adorned in Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern colors handling a majority of the assignments. We begin our coverage with Progressive Rail's Dan Patch Line between Northfield and Lakeville, Minnesota. The railroad assigned PGR 40 (SD39) and PGR 42 (SD38-2) to this operation during the time of production. We follow two sizable Progressive Rail trains over this portion of the former MN&S mainline, with the pair of six-axle units put to good use on the line's undulating profile. In between the northbound and southbound trips, we view some switching in Lakeville at the Airlake Industrial Park, and bring you a special tour of PGR's unique rail warehouse and transload facility. We also include two scenes of CP's Northfield to Lakeville turn, documented shortly before this operation was handed over to PGR. Next, our coverage shifts to the former Chicago Great Western (CGW) line east out of Northfield, to Randolph, Minnesota. We follow PGR's Randolph train in both directions over this branch, with one of PGR's Hancock Air Whistle-equipped SW1500s handling this run. We also see the crew performing a little switching in Randolph before turning back to Northfield. Next, we take a cab ride on PGR's job to Faribault aboard one of Progressive Rail's former MN&S SW1500s, PGR 37. We'll head south over Union Pacific's Spine Line (former Milwaukee Road/Rock Island joint track) between Northfield and Comus, then over IC&E rails into Faribault. Upon arrival in Faribault, we negotiate spindly industrial trackage and switch Faribault Foods before heading back north. We then move up to PGR's operations between Rosemount and Eagan, Minnesota over former Milwaukee Road trackage, known as the "Eagandale line". As with the previous segments, we see several run-bys, as well as some switching, with a surprise appearance by a well-known father and son railfan team. To complete our coverage, we’ll tour the former MN&S High Line in Bloomington and Richfield, Minnesota, with another classy former MN&S SW1500 documented here.

With footage captured in 1994, this video brings you back to the historic final years of the Chicago & North Western, shortly before the merger with Union Pacific in 1995, and the sale of the west end lines to the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern in 1996. In the first half of the trip, we'll pass through St. Onge, do a little work in Whitewood, and travel through the well-known community of Sturgis, where our train starts up a steep 1.5% grade to climb out of town. From there, the tracks stay close to Interstate 90, as our train passes Tilford, Piedmont, and Blackhawk, before arriving in Rapid City. We also include an uninterrupted view of Rapid City as our train slowly passes through the city, and over the many grade crossings before arriving at the C&NW's yard on the south side of town. During the trip, our speed varies between 10 and 40 mph, as we work up and down many steep grades along the line. Engineer Bill Neary expertly handles the train, constantly transitioning between power and heavy dynamic brakes, with some air thrown in, to control our speed over this challenging piece of territory. Beginning in Winona, we take a quick look back to the 1990s, as a CP crew works at Tower CK with a pair of SOO GP15C Caterpillar locomotives. Next, the DM&E gets into the act with a "west train" powered by SD9s and an SD40-3. From there, we head west across the Waseca Subdivision as it works its way out of the Mississippi River Valley, and up the steep 1.7% grade between Stockton and Lewiston. From there, the tracks make their way through farm fields and small towns, as the route traverses the rolling countryside of southeastern Minnesota. We visit Rochester, see trains climbing Byron Hill east of Byron, Minnesota, and explore several other points of interest before arriving in Owatonna. From Owatonna, we'll take a side trip over former Milwaukee Road rails, as we follow the Owatonna Sub to Austin, Minnesota and Mason City, Iowa. On this line, you'll enjoy the rhythm of 90-pound jointed rail, as heavy trains pound along at decent speeds. We then see a northbound Mason City to Waseca freight sprinting north on UP's Spine Line, and taking the junction at Curtis to connect to the Hartland Subdivision for the trip to Waseca. From there, we cover the final miles of the Waseca Sub between Owatonna and Waseca.
As seen in the thumbnail, DM&E and IC&E still employed several classic Griswold crossing signals at the time of production. Shortly before they were removed from service, we captured two pairs of these signals still equipped with rotating stop signs.
This was an exciting time on the DM&E, as the railroad was revitalized with track improvements and new traffic in the years leading up to the purchase by Canadian Pacific. Our coverage spans between 1996 and 2011, with most scenes documented shortly before and after the CP takeover.

Vision Productions by talented videographer Dan Hadley. This scenic section of the former Great Northern mainline includes Marias Pass and Glacier Park, providing us with many beautiful locations to view the action. Beginning in Whitefish, we'll follow the route east, over Marias Pass and the Continental Divide, eventually leading to the wide open plains east of the mountains. Burlington Northern freight trains, intermodal trains, grain trains, work trains, and helpers, are all seen working their way over this territory. BN locomotive models SD40, SD40-2, GP50, GP40-2, GP38-2, and B30-7AB appear frequently throughout the video, giving us a great variety of motive power to showcase for you. LMX GE B39-8E locomotives were also quite common during the production period, with several of these units documented powering intermodal and general freight trains. Santa Fe SD40-2 and SD45-2 locomotives make a few pre-merger appearances in this video as well, adding a little extra color to several of the locomotive consists that pass by Mr. Hadley’s camera. Amtrak’s Empire Builder is seen a few times as it passes through the area, with classic F40PH locomotives in charge. Tunnels, high bridges, breathtaking mountain landscapes, along with train after train of Cascade Green nostalgia, can be found in this C. Vision video presentation.

This was an exciting era on BNSF, and you'll see classic EMD and GE power in a kaleidoscope of different paint schemes. This is former C&NW trackage that once belonged to the Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway. On this day, we followed the “New Prague Job” as they made their rounds on an August day in 2013. Powering the train was a former Southern Pacific GP40-2, UP 1416. We first see the train heading north to Merriam in the early morning with loads from the previous day. At Merriam, the crew yards their train and turns back south towards New Prague. Upon arriving in New Prague, the train is seen switching ConAgra Mills, before continuing south to Montgomery to service Seneca Foods. After working Seneca Foods, the crew heads north to New Prague to complete their day.
The Montgomery Sub is a remnant of the M&StL mainline south of the Twin Cities, with 30 mph jointed rail still in place at the time of production on much of the line.

It is in the Pine Ridge region that we see operations on the former Chicago and North Western Cowboy Line. After the CNW abandoned the segment between Long Pine and Chadron, a portion of the line from Merriman to Chadron was revived and operated by Nebkota Railway. What made this railroad special was its use of an A-B-A set of F units. The fun was only short lived however, as the Nebkota sold the locomotives to the Canadian Pacific for use on their executive trains a year later. We get a chance to view these classics from in the cab and trackside as they navigate the sand hills country of western Nebraska.
Shortly after, we headed over to Crawford Hill to catch a few trains being led with the soon to be retired GE C30-7’s. These heavy trains are captured with SD40-2 helper sets as they grind up the 2.2% grade of the hill.
Great trains, awesome scenery and the sights and sounds of Sandpipers and Western Meadowlarks give you a sense of serenity as we visit north west Nebraska.

Beginning in the predawn hours, we set out to capture "SSB1200" SMRR 561 powering a small train of loaded grain cars from Sisseton to Milbank, South Dakota. Departing Sisseton under the Strawberry Supermoon, we follow the train for 37 miles through Peever, Wilmot, and Corona, before arriving in Milbank. Much of the line is still laid with 60 and 75 pound rail, and we'll see the Sisseton Milbank safely negotiating this fragile track throughout the video. We also see the last Whetstone Valley Express passenger train operated by the Sisseton Milbank back in August of 2005. In addition to trackside views of the event, we take a cab ride aboard SMRR 561. Finally, we’ll take a quick look at BNSF and TC&W operations on the former Milwaukee Road mainline in Milbank.
Although the SMRR is now owned by the Twin Cities & Western Railroad, the Sisseton Milbank image is still represented in the modern day. The spirit of the Milwaukee Road is also very much alive in this resilient little railroad, and we're sure you'll enjoy seeing operations on what was once the Milwaukee's Sisseton branch. Vision's full video covering trains in Minnesota's iron ore country powered by classic EMD locomotives. SD40-2 (SD40-3), SD45T-2 (SD40T-3), SD40-2W, SD38-2, and SD70 locomotives of CN, DM&IR, IC, and B&LE ancestry are seen operating over Canadian National's former Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range system. Several straight air-equipped C40-8s are seen as well, with these units beginning to steal assignments away from older EMDs in 2018. We'll follow loaded and empty taconite trains, along with the Proctor and Two Harbors local freight trains (L593 and L594), as they make their way through the forests of northeastern Minnesota. The parade of trains to and from Minntac, Minorca, and Fairlane pellet plants is non-stop, and this video shows just how busy it was, with trains cycling between the mines and the ore docks as fast as the operation would allow. We also document BNSF local operations, with pairs of SD40-2s being the power of choice during our visits. To round out the program, we head to Silver Bay, Minnesota in search of the Northshore Mining Railroad. We were not disappointed, as NSM provided us with a great variety of trains and equipment - SD40-3 and SD90MAC locomotives are seen powering raw taconite ore and tailings trains across Northshore Mining’s mainline. We visit several popular locations, including Railfan Rock, the MP 23 overpass, and Toimi.
From wildflowers to snowstorms, trains are seen in all four seasons, adding to the variety. A little wildlife is seen and heard as well, with an Osprey making an appearance at Highland, spring peeper frogs calling at Waldo, an American Goldfinch tearing apart some thistle in Two Harbors, and a turtle spending a little time out in the sun south of Mountain Iron.

We encounter two of Rock & Rail's GP40/GP40-2 locomotives handling storage cars between Parkdale and Cotopaxi, which is as far west as the railroad operates. The crew then moves east to Parkdale, where ballast hoppers are picked up for the trip to Cañon City. Although the prospects of reopening the line as a through route are very uncertain, operations continue between Pueblo and Cotopaxi on the east end, and between Gypsum and Dotsero on the west end. Vision's 1997 full-length video release covering trains on BNSF's Marshall Subdivision between Willmar, Minnesota and Sioux City, Iowa. The video was shot immediately after the Burlington Northern Santa Fe merger, and includes an incredible variety of locomotives from Burlington Northern, Santa Fe, BNSF, leasing companies, and foreign railroads. The SD40-2 was still king of the high iron at this time, and was backed up by GP50, SD60, SD60M, C30-7, LMX B39-8E, B30-7AB, SD70MAC, and C44-9W locomotives. SD9, GP9, GP10, GP15-1, GP20, GP28M/P, GP30, GP35, GP38-2, and GP39E/V/M locomotives were also common on secondary and local assignments. Manifest freight, coal, grain, and even some taconite ore and intermodal trains made appearances during the production period. In addition to the Marshall Sub, we'll take a cab ride on BN 1597 between Sioux Falls and Garretson, South Dakota, over BNSF's Corson Subdivision.
