Four and a half years ago, after a personal medical event, cancer diagnosis, and a profound "mystic moment" in the hospital, Kris Becker embarked on a journey to understand and heal from what had happened to him. This adventure became both deeply personal and, in some ways, universal. The story is still unfolding, and through sharing it, Kris hopes others may find something valuable to help heal themselves and their worlds. He doesn’t claim to be a specialist or an expert—just a curious individual who enjoys writing and exploring life’s mysteries.

On a rainy Sunday, September 29, 2024, I invited over 100 people from our community to join me at Grace Church in Manhattan for an afternoon of stunning pipe organ music. Although no one showed up, I had the incredible experience of hearing the majestic organ fill the beautiful space, lifting my spirits with its powerful, holy sound.
Grace Church, an Episcopal Church with deep roots in the Anglican Communion, provided the perfect setting for this awe-inspiring musical event. I arrived early, took some pictures, and even met a friendly student named Zoe. While they couldn’t stay for the performance, I gave them my card and invited them to join us for future events—and I’m extending that same invitation to you!
We have monthly outings, and I’d love for you to be part of the fun. Let’s plan our next adventure for October! Feel free to reach out at 929-884-3564 or email me at DFREY@FHCOMMUNITY.ORG to stay in touch and join in. Looking forward to hearing from you!

The video contains a transcript of a conversation with Chris Ancona, a neuroscientist and author. Here are the key points from the conversation:
Determinism and Free Will: Angela discusses how determinism does not contradict free will, using the example of dominos to explain probabilities and how one event can lead to multiple outcomes.
Concepts of Certainty and Uncertainty: Harvey mentions the concepts of certainty versus uncertainty, highlighting a key theme in the discussion.
Norman Doige's Work: Norman Doige, an author known for his work on neuroplasticity, is referenced multiple times during the conversation, indicating his influence on the topic being discussed.
Brain and Identity: Stan mentions the idea that "You are not your brain," suggesting a discussion on the separation between the brain and one's identity or consciousness.
Echoes Analogy: Tiffany likens the study of the brain and its functions to studying echoes, implying a complex and reflective process.
Closing Remarks: The conversation concludes with participants expressing their enjoyment of the discussion and exchanging well wishes.
Overall, the transcript captures a dynamic conversation on neuroscience, determinism, free will, and the nature of the brain, with references to influential works and authors in the field.

Dr. Danielle Knafo, co-author of From Breakdown to Breakthrough (Psychoanalysis in a New Key Book Series)
As a clear and user-friendly guide for clinicians who work with patients affected by psychosis, this book challenges the false notion that psychosis is untreatable through talk therapy.
The authors contend that since psychotic symptoms are features of survival adaptation, they naturally serve as a valuable source of information, providing clues about the origins of people's psychic derailment along with a path to its cure. The authors advise therapists not only to read and respond to the messages embedded in the symptoms, but also to recognize and utilise the non-psychotic aspects of the patient in facilitating recovery. The overall aim is to recruit the patient as a collaborator in their treatment, thus wresting a meaningful and redemptive narrative from the psychotic experience. All aspects and phases of treatment - from initial encounters through the middle phase to termination, and even supervision - are covered in this volume.
Abundant with clinical examples, theoretical and technical points, and treatment methods, this book is essential reading for all psychotherapists, psychoanalysts, and other mental health clinicians working with psychosis.
Filipino shamans, also known as babaylan, were ritual experts in pre-colonial Philippine ethnic groups who specialized in communicating with spirits. They were often women or feminized men who were thought to have greater powers of intercession with the anito, or ancestral and nature spirits, because of their association with the feminine. Babaylan used their singing voices to contact spirits for healing purposes.

Welcome to Hidden Voices, where masks meet stories and strangers find solace in shared experiences. Join me on a whimsical journey through our recent event, filled with laughter, courage, and the magic of human connection.
The Spark of Inspiration:
Hidden Voices was born from a brilliant idea by my dear friend Dmitri, a visionary from California. Inspired by his dream of an event where masks would cloak identities, we set out to create a safe space for individuals to share their stories freely, unburdened by judgment or stigma.
Bringing the Dream to Life:
With the help of our enthusiastic volunteers recruited from Indeed.com—Kendahl, Sharleen, Fernando, Ariyanna, and Corinne—we transformed Dmitri's vision into reality. Together, we curated an enchanting evening where anonymity met authenticity, and stories found their voice.
The Night Unfolds:
On a crisp Saturday evening, February 24th, from 6 to 8 pm, Hidden Voices came to life. Nestled in the warm embrace of Fountain Gallery, generously provided by our gracious hosts, we embarked on a journey of storytelling and connection.
A Feast for the Senses:
Thanks to the generous donations from Wegmans Supermarket, our guests indulged in a delectable snacks and beverages. With tummies satisfied and spirits high, we delved into the heart of the evening's festivities.
Moments of Courage and Triumph:
Among the masked throngs, stories blossomed like flowers in spring. Tamara and her shy daughter Gabby stepped into the spotlight, bravely challenging social anxieties and embracing the power of vulnerability. Kendahl's raw honesty stirred hearts as she shared her journey of resilience and growth.
A Symphony of Support:
Our volunteers, the true stars of the evening, brought their unique flair and boundless energy. Sharleen's infectious warmth welcomed guests like old friends, while Fernando captured moments of joy and connection through his lens. Corinne's meticulous attention to detail ensured everything ran smoothly, while Ariyanna, our engaged MC for the evening, worked tirelessly to ensure everyone's correct positioning and participation. It was her presence that truly made the event successful, as she navigated the crowd with grace and ensured that every participant felt seen and heard.
A Gratitude-filled Finale:
As the night drew to a close, I stood before our vibrant community, overflowing with gratitude. Together, we had woven a tapestry of empathy and understanding, proving that amidst strangers, lies the potential for profound connection.
Looking to the Future:
As we bid farewell to this magical evening, we carry with us the lessons learned and the bonds forged. With the unwavering support of our volunteers, partners, and guests, we eagerly anticipate the next chapter of Hidden Voices—a testament to the power of storytelling and the beauty of shared humanity.
Join us on this enchanting journey, where every mask holds a story, and every voice finds its place in the tapestry of life. Until we meet again, may your hearts be filled with the warmth of connection and the courage to share your own hidden voice.

David shared his experiences and thoughts on life with our Saturday Spirituality Group - take a listen
Be a FUNdamentalist—make sure the Fun always comes before the Mental. Realize that life is a situation comedy that will never be canceled. A laugh track has been provided, and the reason we are put in the material world is to get more material. Have a good “laughsitive” twice a day to ensure regular hilarity.
Remember, each of us has been given a special gift just for entering, so you are already a winner!
3. The most powerful tool on the planet today is Tell-a-Vision, in which I tell a vision to you and you tell a vision to me. That way, if we don’t like the programming we’re getting, we can change the channel.
Life is like photography—you use the negative to develop. No matter what adversity you face, be reassured: The Universe has us surrounded. Might as well surrender.
It’s true that as we go through life thinking heavy thoughts, thought particles tend to get caught between the ears and cause a condition called “truth decay.” So use mental floss twice a day, and when you’re tempted to practice “tantrum yoga,” remember what we teach in the Swami’s Absurdiveness Training Class: Don’t get even, get odd.
If we want world peace, we must let go of our attachments and truly live like nomads. That’s where I no mad at you and you no mad at me. That way, there’ll surely be nomadness on the planet. Peace begins with each of us. A little peace here, a little peace there, and pretty soon all the peaces will fit together to make one big peace everywhere.
I know great Earth changes have been predicted for the future, so if you’re looking to avoid earthquakes, my advice is simple: When you find a fault, don’t dwell on it.
There’s no need to change the world—all we have to do is toilet train the world and we’ll never have to change it again.
If you’re looking for the key to the Universe, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The bad news: There is no key to the Universe. The good news: It was never locked.
Finally, everything I’ve told you is channeled. That way, if you don’t like it, it’s not my fault. But remember… Enlightenment is not a bureaucracy, so you don’t have to go through channels.
