Future Tone brings back many songs from past Project DIVA games. But with all these new gameplay mechanics, is there an increase in difficulty and if there is, how much harder is it? You can determine that for yourself with gameplay of Akatsuki Arrival from F 2nd and Future Tone.
A feature returning from older Project DIVA games, singers can now be changed for select songs. Note that changing the vocaloid that appears doesn't do anything.
A new difficulty was added called Ex-Extreme. Most of these songs add slide notes to the song if they weren't already present in Extreme. This mode is only available for select songs and is unlocked when beating Hard. While most songs have their difficulties increased from Extreme, a few actually get easier. Meltdown is a good example of this.
In the menu where you select songs to play, there are a lot of controls on the bottom of the screen. The most important of these is triangle, which is the main focus of this video. This is the Japanese version so the Western release will have English translations.
With Future Tone coming to the West in less than 2 weeks, it's time to sit down and re-learn how to play the game. General difficulty on all songs has been upped due to the addition of new gameplay mechanics. The in game tutorial helps cover the basics and a bit of gameplay at the end shows how they are integrated.

As part of the release of PJD X for the PS4, but mostly due to Miku's 9th birthday coming up, we have new DLC in the form of 2 songs and 9 modules. This song was the theme song for Magical Mirai 2015.
The second part of this video shows the 9 modules released with the songs. The Snow Miku Pack contains all Snow Mikus from 2010 to 2015. This pack is free (I’ll say it again: it’s FREE) starting today and lasting until September 25, so get it fast. The CA Style modules are also free and there is no time limit to them. These 2 modules are part of a collaboration with Air Do, a regional airline based in Sapporo.

Miku sings the last medley overcome with the world's happiness and brightness. It is at this point she realizes that this is what voltage is. She also gives herself a new objective: singing for the sake of others. She wishes for people beyond this world to hear her songs and be happy. For such a large goal, she needs help, and thus thurns to you. She hopes that you will be with her, from here on and towards the future., bringing songs to everyone.
Part 3 of the menu music. All the music here is from the conversation scenes that you have with the vocaloids. Since it's rather boring to have one of the vocaloids stare at you for a minute, we can take a step back and enjoy a bit of the visual libraries from previous games.
Again, Miku uses everything she has and sings at full power, leaving her slightly exhausted at the end. Even still, she thanks you for bringing her this far and hopes for more like this in the future.
Part 2 of the menu music. This video has the main menu, free play, element selection, module selection, options, and records menu music. Of note, the Live Edit music is the same as the options menu.
Miku sings her heart out and special live ends well. You congratulate Miku, but she states that it's not over yet. There is still "that" song, the one that will require all the things that she learned up until now.
Miku recounts the time she asked you to help her train in each element. Ever since then, she has been practicing and has come up with many ways to express herself with songs. As a show of thanks, she asks what you want to see from her, no restraints required.
This was a bit embarrassing. The special live requires a specific amount of voltage to clear, but the request I used initially didn't gain enough voltage, despite a near perfect performance. Hence, I used the 2nd request and just barely cleared it. Enjoy a double special live!
Requested by GalacticAngelLunarEclipse(GALE) and Juanchi - Chan.
Thanks to the fact that the game has live quest, there is a lot of menu music thats in the game that isn't normally heard. This video has the start screen and each element theme music.
Each vocaloid has sung with 2 others once, and now all of them have sung with each other. Now is really the time to end it all. Miku is grateful to the other vocaloids and most of all, to you. Again, she asks you for some closing words, this time for real.
Now that all the vocaloids have sung, it's time to end it. Miku asks you for some closing words, but she notices that you have a strange expression. That's because you realize that the vocaloids haven't sung together yet. As Miku puts it, everything before would be meaningless if they don't sing together for the finale.
