This week’s Unraveled was a full “running the shop in real time” moment—and honestly? A little chaotic in the best way.
We kicked things off with a big update: the shop is growing fast, a new team member is officially joining, and I’m in the middle of reworking systems so everything can actually scale (yes… warehouse era is coming 👀).
Then we got into Mystic Fable by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society—and WOW.
I underestimated the panel size (they’re HUGE… like 1.5 yards huge), oversold them immediately, and had to scramble to source more from other shops. But honestly? Worth it. This collection hits different—playful without being overly cutesy, and those panels are a whole project on their own.
We also went deep on:
• New Essex linen cotton fabric colors vs. Essex Yarn Dyed (and why they feel totally different in your hands)
• Restocks like Sewline glue pens and binding spools (practical but necessary)
• A real-time accidental color story moment that turned into a very good bundle idea
• Progress on the Sunflower quilt kit (yes, I’m rewriting parts of the pattern 👀)
• A surprise preorder drop from Sue Penn that’s arriving way sooner than expected
Plus: Fireglow update (it’s been pushed to May), new fabrics I sourced from value-aligned shops, and some very real talk about what it takes to keep up when things start scaling quickly.
