I found this strange gadget for $1.50 at an estate sale. It's described as an Amateur Television receiver, but the estate sale didn't have any other amateur radio gear. The device itself is very homemade and kind of low quality, but appears to have been a product you could buy in the 80s or 90s based on the paperwork that came with it. There's no maker name or callsign, and a prominent warning against using it to pirate pay TV. All of these clues make me think that its actual use was more along the lines of the warning!
Please note that this videos is NOT about pirating TV, getting free pay channels, etc. This device is too old to work with any modern TV systems, and it seems kind of flaky and unreliable anyway. Hopefully YouTube doesn't get upset about showing this, since it's just vintage tech that can't really be used for much today. This video is not intended to support or enable anything illegal.
