Fullmetal Pianist | Mystery of the Clockwork City | Original Epic Steampunk Orchestral/Jazz (Fullmetal Pianist) @fullmetalpianist | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated 4 minutes ago
My first original song after the ‘Alea Violet Uprising’ series! As the title suggest ‘Mystery of the Clockwork City’, is an epic orchestral/jazz hybrid piece meant to be set in a steampunk world. This was probably one of the most insane pieces of music I have ever made, and I had A lot of fun writing it!
For most of my songs before I record I write out sheet music for the entire song. So, I would only need to do some editing to the composition or add in some instrumentation when recording. With ‘Mystery of the Clockwork City’ though, I only had that piano riff you hear at the beginning of the song (0:11) and the bass line you first hear the cello play at (0:20) written before recording. Meaning most of this song was basically improv on the spot (that is why the middle of the song is basically just a solo section).
I also sampled my own clock for this piece, to be a part of the drums! It’s most noticeable at (2:30).
