Mystery object #2 is a Candle Snuffer, which was invented between the 12th and 15th Centuries and used to trim candle wicks and keep them burning efficiently. Though linguists aren't sure why, the term "snuffer" now describes a device previously called a douter, which is used to extinguish candles.
