My Wi-Fi was faster than my wired Ethernet — which definitely should not happen.
After replacing our broadband connection and router, the Wi-Fi speed test looked great. But when I tried a wired connection, it was stuck suspiciously close to 100 Mbps.
That usually means something in the network has negotiated a slower 100 megabit link instead of gigabit Ethernet.
So I tested the house cabling, checked the patch panel, swapped out some old cables, and tried to find the weak link in the chain.
