Cycling the world - Asia: episode 41
I continue my ride across the empty deserts of Oman, battling relentless headwinds, extreme heat and long distances between petrol stations as I make my final push toward Salalah. What should be a simple desert crossing becomes a test of patience when contaminated water forces me to throw away most of my supply and hope I can reach the next stop before running dry. After days of slow progress and exhausting winds, the landscape suddenly transforms from barren desert into a lush tropical world of coconut palms, papaya and banana trees. As I finally reach Salalah, unexpected hospitality awaits, but the city is on edge after an Iranian drone strike hits a nearby oil depot.
