emphasizing that this is VERY speculative, as in, i dont have a lot of faith in much of i've said in here. still, fun to speculate!

EDIT: Some important observations from the comments I'd like to address:
1. About the city in the background of the train scene, I simply assumed this was Splatsville, but man I would LOVE to be proven wrong about that! Some people are speculating that it's a city of order. I wanna keep my expectations low and being able to travel between 2 cities sound almost too good to be true, but what if...what if...

2. Some have mentioned that there's a pyramid in front of the Louvre and I'm gonna be honest, I straight up forgot the Louvre is a thing that exists. I never intended to rule out the possibility of this being far future France, but this info makes it more likely. Again, we'll have to just wait and see!

3. Yes, as a few have mentioned, the tentacles are dried, not grilled, but I doubt it's dried because they're in a desert! If that were the case, then all the tentacles would be dried out, no? Like the grilled tentacle concept, I think they're dried out just for the sake of style. Splatoon devs like to include seafood motifs in designs, and those dried tentacles look like surume.
