In this episode of MY Story, we met Mr. Veeramani Chandran, the owner of Star Printing, one of the last hand press printing shops still running in Ipoh. His family started the business in the 1930s in Little India, Old Town Ipoh, and for generations, they have kept traditional printing alive.
Since young, Mr. Veeramani helped his father run the shop, which is why it means so much to him. To him, Star Printing is more than just a shop. It’s a legacy, a piece of his family’s history.
But times have changed. With digital printing taking over, his once-thriving business is now struggling to stay afloat. He knows that modernization could help, but at his age, the challenge feels too great. Still, he remains proud of the journey and the tradition he has carried on for so long.
