A look at the Sony CDP-397 I bought at a yard sale for the princely sum of $15. Mom acquired a similar player in the early 90s and got nearly 20 years use out of it. Thought I was going to get a similar quality player but was I surprised when I opened the hood to do some cleaning and found that all the circuitry had been hidden behind the display!
The mix CD is something I burned a decade ago. Plays fine on this unit but a scratched Metallica CD I'd found in the street sometime in the late 80s won't play on this - but will play on the DVD player I currently use in my stereo setup.
