Raising a child means being completely, fiercely invested in a process where, ideally, our children will outlive us, meaning we will never actually see how their full story ends.
You don't know what plot twists are coming. You don't know which chapters will be easy, blissful reads... and which ones will leave you completely breathless. 📖💔
My Personal Plot Twist: When I was pregnant with my son, Ryaan, I expected a blissful, textbook postpartum experience. I constantly dreamed about that perfect, serene skin-to-skin moment in the delivery room. Instead, I was met with a highly traumatic delivery, a postpartum ICU stay for myself, and a perinatal stroke for my newborn baby that caused minor oxygen deprivation and acute seizures in the NICU.
We faced wild medical imaging, chaotic laboratory results, and two agonizing weeks of both of us fighting for our lives in separate hospital units.
We never know when those heavy chapters are going to arrive. And yet, as parents, you keep turning the pages. You show up. You prepare. You pour unconditional love into every single line. Because even without knowing the ending, you have to learn to trust the story.
That is parenting. It is beautiful, it is terrifyingly uncertain, and it is the most important book you will ever be a part of. 🤍
