After 40,000 miles on my Honda Rebel 1100 DCT, I decided it was time to rebuild the front brake caliper and document the entire process from teardown to reassembly.

In this step-by-step motorcycle monoblock brake caliper rebuild, I show piston removal, seal removal, cleaning, inspection, reassembly, bleeding and the challenges I encountered along the way. While this video features a Honda Rebel 1100, the procedures may also be helpful for riders working on similar Nissin 4-piston monoblock brake calipers found on many Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and other motorcycles.

Topics covered:
Front brake caliper teardown
Brake piston removal
Brake seal replacement
Caliper cleaning and inspection
Caliper reassembly
Brake bleeding procedure
Troubleshooting sticking pistons
Brake maintenance and service tips

If you've experienced poor brake feel, uneven brake pad wear, brake drag, sticking pistons, pulsing brakes, or simply want to perform preventative maintenance, this video may help you understand what's involved in rebuilding a motorcycle brake caliper.

This video documents my personal experience servicing my own motorcycle and is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. Brake systems are safety-critical components. Always consult your factory service manual and verify proper operation before riding.
