About Zez Confrey
Edward Elzear "Zez" Confrey (April 3, 1895 – November 22, 1971) was an American composer and performer of novelty piano and jazz music. "My Pet" is one of his earliest works (1921) and it's a great example of "novelty piano", a genre of piano and novelty music that was popular during the 1920s. Here I've tried to give my own interpretation of the piece with some small variations.
A successor to ragtime and an outgrowth of the piano roll music of the 1910s, novelty piano can be considered a pianistic cousin of jazz, which appeared around the same time. Though also often highly syncopated, it is distinct from stride piano, which was developed in New York at about the same time.

This time I used samples from two different songs: Heffalumps and Woozles (1968) and Hawaian War Chant (1938).
Heffalumps and Woozles is a song featured in the series, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day and later The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It is sung by the Mellomen (portrayed by four singing honey pots at some points, but mostly offscreen) during Poohs nightmare caused by Tigger, in which Pooh is terrified by Heffalumps and Woozles.
Hawaiian War Chant is an American popular song whose original melody and lyrics were written in the 1860s by Prince Leleiohoku. English lyrics by Ralph Freed were written in 1936 and the melody changed somewhat at that time by Johnny Noble. Tommy Dorsey recorded it on November 29, 1938, and it was released on Victor Records in the United States and Canada. In a 1942 performance, Dorseys band featured drummer Buddy Rich and trumpeter Ziggy Elman for this song. The song was featured in the 1942 film Ship Ahoy starring Eleanor Powell, Red Skelton and the Tommy Dorsey Band.

This time I used samples (and video clips!) from two versions of the same song: one performed by Robin Williams in 1992 and the other performed by Will Smith in 2019.
Prince Ali is a musical number from the 1992 Disney animated film Aladdin. The song performed by Williams was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song at the 50th Golden Globe Awards in 1993.
Fun fact: the Genie character is known for spouting elements of contemporary pop culture, so all his songs contain anachronistic references. During the song, Robin Williams imitates a Thanksgiving Parade commentor (Dont they look lovely, June?), Walter Brennan, and Ethel Merman.
Will Smith, as the Genie, performs the song in the 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin. This version incorporates some hip hop musical elements and has made some changes to the lyrics

This time I used samples from two different songs: Grim Grinning Ghosts (The Screaming Song) and Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) (1936).
Grim Grinning Ghosts (The Screaming Song) is the theme song for The Haunted Mansion attractions at Disney theme parks. It was composed by Buddy Baker, with lyrics written by X Atencio. Its melody has been adapted for numerous uses since its composition in the late 1960s.
Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) is a 1936 song, with music and lyrics by Louis Prima, who first recorded it with the New Orleans Gang. Brunswick Records released it on February 28, 1936 on the 78 rpm record format, with Its Been So Long as the B-side. The song is strongly identified with the big band and swing eras. Several have performed the piece as an instrumental, including Fletcher Henderson and, most famously, Benny Goodman.
Also, in order to set the right atmosphere for the remix, we created this video by editing clips from an old (but amazing) animation movie: “Minnie The Moocher” with Betty Boop (1932).
