This isn't how I wanted 2024 to end.
On Tuesday 10 December 2024, I moved into a new storage unit. 48hrs later, it burned down, taking all of my stuff with it.
This is an extremely raw video at a difficult time. Yes it is just stuff, most of which can be replaced. No one was hurt, injured or killed in the blaze, which is the main thing.
I wanted to share this video after I posted on my socials. The amount of support offered is tremendous and I am forever grateful for that. If anything, I feel guilty for the level of support shown, as it is only stuff at the end of the day. That said, I am still heartbroken to have lost what I have.
Everyone who makes the point about insurance is right, I should have had it in place. I moved in on Tuesday night, going straight form the unit into Mental Health First Aider training. I was at work Wednesday and Thursday, and completing more training in the evenings. I was due to complete the contents itinerary this weekend. This was my oversight and my fault. I take full ownership of that.
Regarding this being a scam. I can absolutely assure you this is not a scam. I am not trying to use this situation for attention, financial gain or anything like that all. I'm sharing this update as people have asked for updates as and when they are available.
Access is still not permitted on site and the photos I received this morning don't hold up much hope. My unit was on the ground floor and there was a mezzanine floor separating the roof space. If this has held up, I might - might - be able to salvage something. However, it's not looking likely. It is more likely the mez floor has given way and the fire has burned down into the unit, taking everything with it. I won't know until the site is safe for access.
I would like to give a special mention to Andy Cummins and Richard Gibson. They have very kindly set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of replacing the Our Tim branded items lost in the fire. I'm overwhelmed with the generosity of those who have donated. There are far more worthy causes out that than me, but this will make a huge difference preparing for the 2025 show season.
I want to stress to you, and to others - there are far more worthy causes than me and I will rebuild and replace the items I have lost in time. I'm not broke or out on a limb. Yes, I have had a financial hit, but that was my fault for not getting insurance in place in time. I am not asking for the community to cover that, not at all. There are far more worthy causes than me and I'd much prefer to see funds go to them.
The GoFundMe page was set up by friends who wanted to help, and I am extremely grateful for that and to everyone who is helping me recover from this.
I just want it to be really clear, I am not asking or begging for money - but I am exceptional grateful for all of the support shown over the last 48hrs. Every comment and message really does mean the world.
