I know the benefits of sardine fasting come from eating at a deficit. The sardines help mitigate catabolic symptoms and provide a boost of essential micronutrients. However, my problem with any and all of these hot diet "hacks" is that they are completely unsustainable, and people don't fully understand the mechanism of action. Sardines are great, but there is nothing magical about them. By crafting this experiment so I'm holding my calories relatively constant at my maintenance intake of 3,000, I'll illustrate that everything remains relatively stable. My only problem... 3,000 calories' worth of sardines winds up being about 18 cans/day, which I'm most definitely not looking forward to! Fish burps here I come!
