Back in the early 2000s, my mate Mike couldn't wait to get the Nokia N-Gage for his birthday. It promised to combine a mobile phone and a gaming console into one revolutionary device.

When he finally brought it into work with Sonic the Hedgehog, I gave it a try... and something just felt off. Sadly, the N-Gage never lived up to the hype and became one of gaming's biggest hardware disappointments.

I still remember how excited he was, and I've always felt a bit sorry for him. It's one of those gaming stories that has stuck with me for over 20 years.
