Welcome to Cape Verde 🇨🇻
In this video I’m sharing Day 1 of my very first trip to Cape Verde, including my arrival on the island of Boa Vista.
Cape Verde (or Cabo Verde) is an archipelago of 10 islands located off the west coast of Africa, in the Atlantic Ocean. The country has a population of just over half a million people, with tourism being one of its biggest industries – especially on islands like Boa Vista and Sal, which are known for their beaches, resorts, and water sports.
I’ll be honest… I didn’t do much research before travelling 😅 so I was genuinely surprised by how windy, sparsely populated, and desert-like Boa Vista is. The landscape feels raw and almost other-worldly, with long empty roads, sand dunes, and wide open spaces.
That said, all of that kind of fades away once you reach the beachfront. The beaches here are absolutely breathtaking endless stretches of sand that are perfect for long walks, switching off, and especially windsurfing and kitesurfing thanks to the constant wind. While the ocean looks inviting, it’s definitely too cold for swimming in January/February… at least for me 🥶.
